Wellington Town Council planning meeting November 2007

The NOVEMBER PLANNING meeting of Wellington Town Council will be held in the United Reformed Church Hall in Fore Street, Wellington, on MONDAY, 5TH NOVEMBER 2007 at 5pm. Mr John Hamer, Taunton Deane Borough Council’s planning officer, will be in attendance. Please note the earlier than usual starting time of 5pm

2. APPLICATION TO BE DETERMINED BY TOWN COUNCIL
(a) Alterations and extensions, including raising the roof height to form first floor accommodation and erection of dormer and velux windows, 5 Orchard Close, Lower Westford, Wellington (43/2007/132: Planning officer recommends REFUSAL, report enclosed. Letters of objection from Mr and Mrs A.R, Marke, W. Hansford and M. Jordan on grounds of overlooking, loss of privacy, too large and out of keeping: enclosed)

3. TO CONSIDER WHAT COMMENTS TO MAKE ON THE FOLLOWING APPLICATIONS WHICH WILL BE DETERMINED BY TAUNTON DEANE BOROUGH COUNCIL:
(a) Conversion of existing buildings and the erection of new buildings to provide 224 dwellings and a number of commercial units together with associated car parking and access ways, Tonedale Business Park, Tonedale Mill, Milverton Road, Wellington (43/2007/092 and 093LB). Planning officer’s comments: Will need to assess impact on character of buildings and their setting. Will also be dependent up views of a number of consultees. Reports of County Highways and English Heritage enclosed. Letter from Boonbrown architects stating EH requirements are included in amended plans: enclosed. Letter of objection from Mr P. Curtis: enclosed)
3. TO CONSIDER WHAT COMMENTS TO MAKE ON THE FOLLOWING APPLICATIONS WHICH WILL BE DETERMINED BY TAUNTON DBC (CONTINUED):
(b) Conversion of mill building (former Haymans Coalyard Warehouse) and extension to form 21 two bed apartments and formation of 32 car parking spaces and bike lockers for 42 bikes, Haymans Mill, Payton Road, Westford, Wellington as amended by letter dated 12th October 2007 with accompanying drawing Nos 05040-111A, 112A, 113A, 116 and 117 and bat and newt reports received on 15th October 2007 (43/2007/087: Planning officers comments: Will need to assess impact on character of existing building, traffic generation, flood risk mitigation, and impact on wildlife). Report of Somerset Highways recommending conditional approval enclosed. The application was deferred at the August, September and October meetings pending the receipt of the comments of County Highways and a site meeting (held on 24th October)
(c) Erection of bungalow on land to the rear of 32 Mantle Street, Wellington (43/2007/146: Planning officer’s initial comments: Assess impact on visual and residential amenity and on road safety)
(d) Conversion and extension of former bakery building to form 3 flats to rear of 23 North Street, Wellington (43/2007/139: Planning officer’s initial comments: Likely to be acceptable)
(e) Application to fell on eucalyptus tree within Wellington conservation area at 39a Fore Street, Wellington (43/2007/151T: Planning officer’s initial comments: Application will be assessed on site)
(f) Erection of non illuminated sign (retrospective) at 21 High Street, Wellington (43/2007/145LB: Planning officer’s initial comments: Assess impact on the character and appearance of listed building)
