Wellington Town Council meeting May 2008

The MAY meeting of Wellington Town Council will be held in the main hall of the United Reformed Church in Fore Street, Wellington, on Monday 12th MAY 2008 immediately following the Annual Parish meeting, which starts at 7p.m. and the Annual Meeting of Council.
The Council’s May Planning meeting will also be held on Monday 12th May 2008 in the URC Church Hall at 6pm.

2. TO CONFIRM THE MINUTES OF THE MONTHLY COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON 7th April 2008

3. GRANT APPLICATION FROM AVON AND SOMERSET CONSTABULARY FOR A CONTRIBUTION TOWARDS THE COST OF TWO DEFIBRILLATORS
Enquiries are currently been undertaken with Wellington First Responders and Wellington St John Ambulance about the use of existing defibrillation equipment (Letter to First Responders and email to St John Ambulance enclosed)

4. GRANT APPLICATION FROM WELLINGTON TOWN AFC FOR £7,500 TO UPGRADE GROUND AND PLAYING FACILITIES
This follows planning application 43/2008/027 relating to ground and facilities improvements which was considered and recommended for approval at the last meeting. These improvements are a requirement following the Club’s promotion.

5. GRANT APPLICATION FROM WELLINGTON RADIOWATCH
Grant application and supplemental information from Wellington Radiowatch with quotation for new radio equipment and letter of support from Sgt Stuart Bell of Wellington Police. Report also enclosed of meeting to discuss this application further (enclosed: for decision)

5A. GRANT APPLICATION FROM WELLINGTON RFC
To consider a request from Wellington RFC to bring forward the payment of the second half of the previously approved grant of £7,500.
Correspondence relating to this request (enclosed: for decision) Further correspondence is available should councillors wish to see it.

5B. TO DISCUSS REQUEST FROM BUCKWELL NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH FOR RELOCATING OF CCTV CAMERA

5D TO CONSIDER THE POSSIBLE PURCHASE OF A WELLINGTON TOWN COUNCIL “PULL UP BANNER” FOR USE AT PUBLIC MEETINGS AND EVENTS

(a) Letter from Wellington and District Conservative Club asking for the Town Council’s support for its appeal against a refusal of Listed Building consent for the retention of an emergency overflow pipe at 19 High Street, Wellington. (Minute 14650 March 2008)
(b) Minute 14690. Letter from Somerset County Council regarding HGV pinch point consultation explaining that this Council’s requests are to be scored and considered (enclosed for information).
(c) Minute 14693. Request from Christian Care for One World to make Wellington a ”Plastic Bag Free Town “

(c) Letter from Kate Holloway regarding illegal parking at Corams Lane, Wellington. (enclosed for decision).
(d) Letter from Clive Miller and Associates asking for identification of possible affordable housing sites in Wellington (enclosed for decision)
(e) Briefing Note from Taunton Deane Borough Council regarding Pioneer Somerset (enclosed for information)
(f) Letter from James Trueman and Robin Payne regarding TPO issue at 11 High Path, Wellington (enclosed for decision)
(g) Letter from Wellington School following concerns from residents regarding flooding at Improvement Place (enclosed for decision – photos to be displayed at meeting). Councillor J Reed to raise also the possibility of resurfacing Bulford Lane and the provision of parking restrictions.
