Wellington Town Council annual council meeting May 2008

The ANNUAL COUNCIL MEETING will be held in the United Reform Church Hall, Fore Street, Wellington on Monday 12th May 2008 and will follow immediately at the end of the annual parish meeting

AGENDA FOR ANNUAL COUNCIL MEETING

1. APOLOGIES

2. TO ELECT THE MAYOR FOR 2008-2009
(Councillor P J Critchard has been proposed by Councillor Goodwin, seconded by Councillor Copley and in accordance with Standing Order 11 will be duly elected)

3. TO RECEIVE THE MAYOR’S DECLARATION OF ACCEPTANCE OF OFFICE

4. TO ELECT A DEPUTY MAYOR FOR 2008-2009
(Councillor J E Reed has been proposed by Councillor Mitton, seconded by Councillor Bowrah and in accordance with Standing Order 11 will be duly elected)

5. TO APPOINT LEAD COUNCILLORS FOR THE FOLLOWING COMMITTEES:
(a) Footpaths Committee
(b) Environmental Committee
(c) Staffing and Training Committee
(d) Allotments Committee
(e) Emergency Planning Committee
(f) CCTV Working Party
(NOTE: Finance Committee is chaired by the Chairman of Council and it is intended that this will continue.)

6. TO ELECT THE FOLLOWING COMMITTEES:
(a) Finance Committee (6 members: currently Councillors Mitton, Clark, Critchard, A Govier, Hindley and J Govier);
(b) Footpaths Committee (4 members: currently Councillors Mitton, Reed, Stock-Williams and Walters);
(c) Environmental Committee (4 members: currently Councillors Copley, Critchard, Lloyd and Stock-Williams);
(d) Emergency Planning Committee (5 members: currently Councillors Bowrah, A Govier J Govier, Hindley and Mitton):
(e) CCTV Working Party (5 members: currently Councillors Critchard, Copley, A Govier, Mitton, Stock-Williams and Goodwin)
(f) Staffing and Training Committee (4 members: Councillors Hindley, Mitton, Lloyd and Wilson).

7. TO ELECT 2 REPRESENTATIVES ON WELLINGTON TWINNING ASSOCIATION (Currently Councillors Copley and one vacancy)

8. TO ELECT 1 REPRESENTATIVE ON WELLINGTON COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION (Currently Councillor Mitton)

9. TO ELECT 3 REPRESENTATIVES ON WELLINGTON ECONOMIC PARTNERSHIP (Currently Councillors Copley, A Govier, Mitton and Stock-Williams)

10. TO ELECT 1 REPRESENTATIVE ON SOMERSET ASSOCIATION OF LOCAL COUNCILS (Currently Councillor Mitton)

11. TO ELECT 3 REPRESENTATIVES ON THE HOSPITAL OF SIR JOHN POPHAM KNIGHT (Popham Flats in Victoria Street: Currently Councillors Copley, Hindley and Stock-Williams)

12. TO ELECT 1 REPRESENTATIVE ON THE WELLINGTON IN BLOOM COMMITTEE (Currently Councillor Stock-Williams)

13. TO ELECT 1 REPRESENTATIVE ON THE FRIENDS OF WELLINGTON PARK (Currently Councillor Goodwin)

14. TO CONSIDER APPROVING THE RENEWAL OF THE ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTIONS TO SOMERSET ASSOCIATION OF LOCAL COUNCILS, THE COMMUNITY COUNCIL FOR SOMERSET, THE COUNCIL FOR THE PROTECTION OF RURAL ENGLAND AND SOUTH WEST PROVINCIAL COUNCIL.
