2. TO CONFIRM THE MINUTES OF COUNCIL MEETINGS HELD ON 8TH JANUARY 2007 (enclosed)

3. TO CONSIDER FIXING THE COUNCIL’S PRECEPT FOR 2007-2008. (Detailed report by clerk enclosed with a recommendation that the town council’s council tax should remain unchanged at £16.50 for Band D Properties for the eight successive year)

4. TO GIVE CONSIDERATION TO UNITARY AUTHORITY PROPOSAL BY SOMERSET COUNTY COUNCIL (See minute 14080: Councillors have received a copy of the county’s business case for a unitary authority. The county decided on 22nd January ask the Government to create a unitary authority for Somerset. The reactions of the Secretary of State are due by the end of March. If any bid is taken forward, then there will be full consultation with district, town and parish councils between April and June. In view of this it is suggested that the town council should defer consideration until the 12 week consultation period: for decision)

5. TO CONSIDER GRANT APPLICATION BY WELLINGTON SQUASH CLUB (letter, grant application form and financial statements enclosed: for decision)

5A. TO CONSIDER EXTENDING 30MPH SPEED LIMIT AT BURCHILLS HILL TO THE ROCKWELL GREEN SIDE OF THE WEAVERS REACH PLAY AREA (Councillor S. Palmer to raise: for decision)

5B. TO CONSIDER ASKING TAUNTON DBC TO UPGRADE THE GAP IN THE FENCE BETWEEN ROPE WALK GREEN SPACE AND FARTHINGS PITT INTO A FORMAL GATEWAY (Councillor V. Stock-Williams to raise: for decision)

6. MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES:
(a) Minute 14092 Relocation of Taunton Cattle Market: Letter from Councillor John Williams, leader of Taunton DBC about investing in Wellington (enclosed: for information)
(b) Minute 14043 (4th December meeting): 400th anniversary of death of Sir John Popham: Letter from governors asking the town council to consider financially assisting the repair of the stone plaque at west entrance and the repair and painting of the Popham coat of arms over the middle of three buildings of the almhouses (enclosed with quote for the new stone plaque Quote for painting coat of arms awaited. At December meeting Wellington in Bloom Committee asked council to consider contributing to estimated £1,250 cost of a carpet bedding scheme of the Popham coat of arms in the Park: for decision)
(c) Minute 14075 Phone mast at Blackdown Trading Estate: Letter from King’s Church leader, Rev Mark Morse stating the town council had been provided with inaccurate information re position of mast (enclosed: for information)

(a) Notices from Taunton Deane Borough Council stating that the following tree preservation orders have been placed on: (i) 4 oak trees, 1 field maple tree and a group of 4 field maple trees at Oakfield Park, Wellington; (ii) 1 lime tree on land to the south east of 10 Pyles Thorne Road (Oakhill), Wellington; (iii) 1 mulberry tree and 1 cherry tree at rear of Old Vicarage, High Street, Wellington; (iv) woodland to the west of Tone Mill, Wellington (not enclosed: for information)
(b) Letter from Ada Mournian about traffic problems in Eight Acre Lane, Wellington (enclosed: for decision)

8. WELLINGTON ECONOMIC PARTNERSHIP
To consider whether to make any recommendations/suggestions for inclusion on the agenda for the next WEP meeting on Monday, 12th February 2007 at 6pm
